Fabricated Line of Descent

Boyer shows Alcwn in a line of descent going back to Coel Hen ("King Cole"). [1] Wolcott's different birth estimates are appended in parentheses. [2] Stewart Baldwin, however, states that the genealogy which purports to make Gwriad a direct male-line descendant of Llywarch Hen is almost certainly a late fabrication. [3]

South Rheged (Old North)

As shown in "The History Files" for the year 0790, Elidyr map Sandde map Alcwn map Tegid map Gwyar map Llywarch Hen is a direct descendant of the last British king of South Rheged. Elidyr's son, Gwriad, becomes king of Gwynedd in 815, still carrying the title, Heir to South Rheged. Physical control of the region, however, has long since fallen to Northumbria, although southern sections may be conquered by Mercia during its ascendancy around this time. [6]

Reign: Ynys Manaw

He was King of Ynys Manaw (Isle of Man) in about 680.[citation needed] (This is too early for a brith date about 660 or 670. Watt-266 23:50, 18 April 2015 (EDT))
